My Top Three Healthy Breakfast Foods:

Last night I tweeted out asking for suggestions for future blog posts and despite most of you thinking it was video/YouTube related, a lot of you guys also wanted to know what I it is I eat in a day.
Now, I feel like no matter what I write down there will always be people judging me. It doesn’t matter how much or how little I eat,  there will always be judgement. Besides with me being on a diet right now it wouldn’t give you a realistic view of what I would actually eat either (I feel like I would snack a lot more if I wasn’t trying to get fitter ha ha), so I thought instead of listing out everything I eat, I would write about some of my favorite things to eat! Specifically for breakfast!

Breakfast especially, is one of the most important meals of the day and also happens to be one of my favorites! I could seriously eat breakfast foods for every meal and it would take a very long time for me to get bored with it. Anyway, breakfast is what gets you up and going in the morning and thus needs to be a solid meal to keep you fueled up until you eat again. On my current diet I usually eat breakfast, then wait a couple of hours, then eat a pre-lunch snack and then eat lunch. So my breakfasts, at this time, are not especially big but you can make these breakfasts in whatever portion size you’d like.

First up is: Oatmeal with soy milk and strawberries. This one is the what I tend to make most days. It’s quick and easy and most importantly, it keeps you full for a long time! I like to make my oatmeal with a 50/50 of soy milk and water. I feel like that gives it a good thick consistency and a better taste than if I were to just use water.
I put my oats, soy milk and water in a small pot and heat it up. Make sure to stir it once in a while so it doesn’t burn. Then I usually take some strawberries to use as topping but you can use other berries, müsli or even fruit if you would rather that. I just personally prefer my oats with strawberries. – YUM!

What you’ll need:

40g Porridge oats.
100ml Soy milk.
100ml Water.
100g Strawberries.
1 Small pot.
1 Small knife.
1 Spoon (to stir).

Second up is: Skyr with müsli and berries. This is something I also tend to make quite often, especially if I’m not feeling like eating something hot in the morning. It’s so fantastically easy to make because you literally just throw everything you want into a bowl and scoff it down.
I like to use skyr instead of natural yoghurt as it has a higher amount of protein in it and is lower in fat than most other natural yoghurts (plus it’s super thick in its consistency which I like). I top that with some fruity/nutty müsli and usually more strawberries.
This breakfast is also perfect for summer where you are looking for something light and fresh and might not be fancying anything too big and clunky. Plus if you want to spruce it up a bit you can always add a small drizzle of honey to really make it a sweet summery treat!

What you’ll need:

100g Skyr/natural yoghurt.
45g Müsli of your choice.
100g Assorted berries or fruits.
1 Bowl
1 Spoon

And lastly we have: A banana protein smoothie: This is usually my after-workout snack but sometimes I do tend to reach for it in the mornings if I’m not feeling super hungry. I love smoothies and I love putting good tasting things in my body and this is literally perfect for that because you get the best of both worlds!
Now you don’t have to add protein to your smoothie, that’s just what I like to do. If you are not working out regularly but are eating properly, then it’s not something you need either. I use a soy based protein powder for my smoothies. I like it because It doesn’t have a huge amount of calories in it but it still helps me regenerate after a couple of tough workouts. Besides it tastes really yummy and banana and vanilla are two of my favorite flavors when it comes to protein powders so it’s just a big win-win for me!

What you’ll need:

1 Small banana.
1 Scoop vanilla/banana protein powder.
150ml Soy milk/skyr/natural yoghurt
100ml Water.
1 Blender.

  4. Are all the pictures about the same breakfast?

Do you eat any healthy snacks, if you do, would you make a post about them? 🙂
It’s so difficult to come up with any snacks that would be good for the body 😦

  5. Idk if you’ve ever dealt with anything like this but I’m anorexic and I find it very very hard to eat breakfast in the mornings or even food in general. Do you have any small foods that you like or small portions of food that still make you full?

    1. What about yogurt with nuts and raisin?
      Or protein shake?
I have an eating disorder myself and to me it helps drinking the breakfast instead

  6. Breakfast food is definitely an all day thing! My mom supports all day breakfast. I myself love peanut butter banana smoothies because they have the protein and they’re very filling. Thanks for including recipes and pictures, it makes your post easy to use and share.

  7. These look delicious. I personally love to eat joghurt with berries and müsli (it’s basically like your skyr recipe but I prefer greek joghurt). Since I don’t have time to eat in the mornings, I usually put the ingedients in separate tupperwares so things don’t get mushy and eat it when I’m out and about. It works great 😊
