Five Highlights From the month of February:

It’s just about that time again where I like to take a look back at what has actually transpired during the month. This February has been a good one. I feel like we’ve just been cruising through without much trouble and even though the weather has been a crazy back and forth between sunshine and snowfalls, it’s still very much been an enjoyable time.
We’ve done a lot of things, seen a lot of things and tried out a bunch of new things. Some of which included going to the Black Panther premiere! Sean and I had never been to a premiere before so it’s safe to say that we were wowed by all the people and the lights! Sean also made an appearance on The Late Late Show, an Irish television program that is also one of the longest running talk shows in the world and it went so incredibly well. We flew out on the Friday, got to the studio that evening and left the next morning. It felt like a mini holiday and despite the fact that we ended up cheating on our diet quite a bit A LOT, it really helped regenerate us both, not only physically but also mentally. Getting to break away from our busy schedules at home was energizing in a way. It was just, nice.

That’s why I’ll take today to write about some things I’ve truly been enjoying during this past month. It’s just going to be a small list of things. Some might be a bit unconventional but they have honestly been a big part of my day-to-day.

First up is trains. This has been our most preferred method of transportation during the month of February. It’s just so handy! I’ve always been sort of scared of the British railway system. It always seemed very complex and complicated to me, so I never tried it though February had other plans for me. The Black Panther premiere was on the eighth of February and we decided that it would be easier (and more affordable) to grab a train to London to see it. Besides it would be good to finally make an effort to understand the whole thing, right? There were two of us as well so what could really go wrong? Turns out – A lot apparently! It was a messy first trip and we ended up making a bunch of mistakes but we did it! We pulled through and faced our fears! It was a big success, so much so that we have begun using the trains regularly now. Quite proud of that short venture ha ha!

Second on the list is sweet potatoes. Now I’m gonna warn you right now, this list is going to involve a lot of food related items! Mainly because we switched diets at the beginning of the month so now we are a little more lenient with what we eat. That of course includes the sweet sweet bliss that is sweet potato mash. I’ve been loving it! Though it’s not something I am allowed to grab a huge portion of, it still makes the usual, boring chicken and broccoli evening meal, just a little more enjoyable.

Thirdly we have soya milk. I told you it was gonna be heavy in the food department. Soya milk has been my huge eye-opening discovery this month and I’m baffled at myself over not deciding to try it out sooner. I’m simply in love! It the only type of milk I consume at this point! Even in coffee it’s a god-send! Sweet and delicate – YUM!!

Next is sunshine. Remember I mentioned that the weather hasn’t really been able to make up its mind about whether it wants to stay in winter or move forward to spring? Yeah well, the few days it decided to send a little sunshine down to this cold cold earth was pure heaven. Walking through Brighten on those days made me miss spring and summer so badly. I yearned for days where I could walk outside without a jacket and sit on a patch of grass that hadn’t been turned muddy by rain. It’s been snowing in Brighton today though, so I guess we’ll have to wait a little longer for those nice warm spring days…

Lastly we have a show that Sean and I have been investing a lot of time in as of late called Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee” with Jerry Seinfeld, which is currently available on Netflix. It’s just a fun, chill show that does exactly what the title implies: Jerry invites different comedians out for a cup of coffee and takes them on a ride in some sweet old cars. They talk about pretty much anything and everything and it feels very much like you get a peek into what it’s like to hang out with these legendary people. So if you are looking for a good fun show to watch I definitely recommend it!

  1. Your February sounds amazing and I really do appreciate how you pay attention to the littlest things that seems to not have much of an impact but really makes your day. Sunshine definitely is the best to warm up your body without weighing yourself with layers of cloth, but when you’re living in the topical area (and that spring is coming), sunshine will be your worst enemy. DEHYDRATION, HEAT, HUMIDITY, INSECTS, SWEAT will be waiting for you at your doorstep.

My February is good. In Asia, it’s actually Chinese New Year so everyone is going to get busy. I tried to do knitting. Some people seem to misunderstand knitting as an activity for elders but it should be a all age, all gender activity. You should try it :).

p.s. If you could, try adding at least an image per thing you mention (like when you’re talking about trains, have a picture of a train or you sitting on the train) It brings more life into your updates. If you plan to not have pictures on any of your update posts, I can understand. Thank you. ❤

  2. I absolutely LOVE “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee”. It’s a blast to watch and it can be thoughtful too. I had never heard anybody talking about it though, so seeing it in this list was a happy surprise! I’m glad I’m not the only person who knows it exists!

  3. I’m so eager to see you and Seán in that Netflix series! I’m glad the year’s been going super well so far, I’d say it’s treated me well, too. My sister and I aren’t even arguing (as much), but progress is progress!

I’m a firm believer that there’s always room for improvement, so I still feel motivated to push myself to do better. Though I’ve kept with my goals for the year – for the most part, anyway – I’d like to remain optimistic, fit, dedicated and endure a healthier lifestyle. Let’s hope March is even better! I’m looking forward to it and am excited for what the rest of the year will bring you! ^^

  5. Ah what a lovely list. It sounds like you had a really lovely month. Especially getting to travel so much by train. I always find that mode of transport to be the most relaxing. I’m hoping for Summer too!

Also I saw Sean on the Late Late Show as well as your vlogs which were just so amazing by the way ❤ You're so lucky to have been able to go Wiishu. Being Irish I grew up with everyone in my family sitting down to it on a weekly basis so watching someone I admire was super special to me. (Usually they interview people who don't really appeal to a younger audience.)
Next time you're in Dublin you should take some time to explore the Creative Quarter. There's some really one of a kind boutiques and funky stores around there that are just super cute.

Anyway I hope you have a lovely week and I'm excited to read more blogposts from you!

  8. Ahhh oh my gosh, soya milk is literally the best thing ever! Especially for me cos I can’t have milk (I’m lactose intolerant) cashew milk and almond milk are some of my favourites as well! And the sunshine has been really nice here in Canada too, we’ve been getting lots of it lately so I’ve been waking up early every morning just to get out of the house and sit in the sun! It’s quite, lovely to be honest!
And also, if I had to chose which my favourite thing has been so far this year I’m gonna have to go with your blog! I always look forward to reading whatever you write about, it’s the favourite part of my day! 😊

  9. On a technical note, I love that you bold the main points of your paragraphs. It helps your points stand out and makes it easy to find each new topic.

On a reader’s note, I love that your favorites are unconventional! It’s really interesting to see what people have genuinely been using every day in a month and what they have discovered and loved. I’m glad that your February was good and I wish you the best as we March ahead! ;p
